Collect, analyse and move alumni data to databases

Project overview

The daily responsibilities of the Alumni Management Administrator centre around the meticulous management of the organisation's database of information.

In the past the administrator had to scour through a lot of data to get some valuable information about the alumni from it. We wanted to make the life of our main users - The administrators, easier. With Sync the administrator can engage with the Sync feed, review all incoming additions of data to ensure their accuracy and adherence to established standards prior to integration into the primary database, RENXT.

RENXT holds a position of prominence as the preferred database tool among educational institutions of varying scales, facilitating the maintenance of their primary data repository. Almabase build the first industry wide API to seamlessly capture and transfer data to RENXT, thus distinguishing ourselves from competitors in the field.

I worked on the V2 version of the product.

Customer problems

Problem

  • Large inflection of user data that needs to be reviewed

  • Ability to quickly add data to an existing customer profile

  • Ability to quickly compare all the data points that exist in the system before adding it to a profile

  • Ability to move data to RENXT

How is V1 lacking?

Problem

  • Each section has to be manually clicked to review the data

  • There were lot of data points to compare. Sometimes the data points to be compared to can be really long and the sight of the original data point will be lost.

  • Visually there were a lot of information to be processed

  • Admins were not sure about the data points and the places it was getting updated

User interview findings

Findings

  • Admins found the interface overwhelming

  • Admins found it hard to click through and find all the datapoints to be reviewed

  • Admins were fearful to approve changes the interface could not clearly convey which database it was going to part of

  • The number of datapoints to be compared against was a lot

  • Admins found the data points to be compared against confusing
